Vanguard Chess
📖 Vanguard Rules
How to Play
The Setups
Standard:
Solid wall of Checkers on Row 3, Pawns on Row 2, Chess on Row 1.
True Spacing:
Solves gridlock by placing Checkers only on alternating squares (dark or light).
Inverted Vanguard:
A highly aggressive variant where Checkers hold the back row, the King and Majors are on the 2nd row, and Pawns are on the 3rd row!
Checker Mechanics
Movement:
Checkers (⬤) move 1 square diagonally forward into an empty space.
Jumping (Capturing):
Checkers capture by jumping over an adjacent enemy piece into an empty square diagonally behind it.
Multi-Jumps:
You can chain multiple jumps in a single turn! Click the next jump target, or click "End Jump" to stop early. Jumping is optional.
Checker Kings:
Reaching the furthest rank promotes a Checker to a Checker King (❂), which can move and jump diagonally backward as well.
Chess Mechanics
Chess pieces move and capture completely normally via displacement.
Pawns can double-move on their first turn, and En Passant is fully active.
Castling (Kingside and Queenside) is fully active across all board sizes!
Manual Promotion:
Reaching the final rank with a Pawn will pop up a menu allowing you to under-promote to any major piece.
Victory:
Capture the enemy Chess King to win!
